Sony has sold more than 30 million PlayStation 5 consoles to date, Sony Interactive Entertainment CEO Jim Ryan announced during the company’s presentation at CES 2023. Since the company released its November sales report, sales have increased by 5 million units.

Despite higher PS5 console prices in various markets in August, Ryan said console supply improved towards the end of last year, and that “December was the biggest ever for PS5 console sales. The PlayStation boss also confirmed that the PS5 console shortage is over. He said,“everyone who wants a PS5 should have a much easier time finding one at retailers globally, starting from this point forward.”

It took Sony over two years to solve the PS5 delivery bottleneck. Ryan thanked PlayStation fans for their patience and support as a“managed unprecedented demand amid global challenges over the past two years.”

With the PlayStation 5 now available on disc and digital, Sony is moving away from first-party cross-gen titles and finally ready to take full advantage of the PlayStation 5’s technical capabilities in upcoming games.
